Lake Worth ISD Band Directors

Adrian Villalobos received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. This is his 7th year teaching and 4th year as the at Lake Worth High School. Mr. Villalobos served as the assistant director for past 3 years. Prior to LWHS, he spent 3 years in both assistant and head director roles at DeSoto West Middle School and Ruby Young Academy in DeSoto ISD. His performance experience includes time on trombone, euphonium and tuba in concert bands, jazz bands, marching bands, pep bands, and community bands.  

Mr. Villalobos returns to Lake Worth as a proud Alumnus and leads the Bullfrog Marching Band, The Wind Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band. In addition, Mr. Villalobos assists with the Color guard, Winter guard, LWHS Pep Band, Emerald Jazz Band, bands at Lucyle Collins Middle School and some beginner classes. 

Mr. Villalobos’ professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Young Band Directors of Texas. 

Outside of teaching Band, Mr. Villalobos enjoys spending time with his wife, Melanie, and their two dogs, Bella and Nova, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

Mr. Chris Koenig is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent 10 years teaching percussion in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky before moving to Texas in 2015 to teach percussion full-time.  He is an active performer and clinician in the DFW area and has enjoyed performing with the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue Drumline and the Mansfield Symphony and teaching DFW’s top percussion ensemble, Vigilantes Indoor Percussion. Mr. Koenig’s percussion students have found success throughout Texas with multiple All-State performances, Outstanding Soloist Awards, and numerous First Division and Best in Class Percussion awards.

In 2011, Mr. Koenig became the Front Ensemble Coordinator and Arranger for Tates Creek Indoor Ensemble as they came in 11th place in the first year as a PIW in WGI. Mr. Koenig has also written for DCA’s Cincinnati Tradition, DCI Open Class group Blue Saints, and DCI World Class group Cascades. Mr. Koenig taught at Colt Cadets as both bass technician and front ensemble technician, at the Cascades as the Front Ensemble Coordinator, and at Spokane Thunder. In 2012 Mr. Koenig took a break from teaching music and traveled to Suzhou, China, where he spent a year teaching English and traveling around Southeast Asia.

Mr. Koenig was a member of Magic of Orlando in 2006, and Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from 2007 – 2008 where he aged out as section leader of the Front Ensemble. In 2009 Mr. Koenig was a member of the WGI World Champion Rhythm X. He received his bachelor’s in music education from Eastern Kentucky University in 2010. In 2015, he graduated from Morehead State University with a master’s degree in Percussion Performance.  He has studied with/ learned from many incredible percussionists, including Dr. Brian Mason, Dr. Jason Koontz, Andrew Markworth, Tim Jackson, Tim Fairbanks, Dr. Ryan Kilgore, She-e Wu, Dr. Julie Hill, Andy Narell, Jeff Queen, Nick Angelis, Rob James, Max Mullinix, Craig Loeffler, and Maraca2’s Tim Palmer and Jason Huxtable.

Mr. Koenig, his wife Veronica, their son Lucas, and daughter Katherine are proud to be Bullfrogs and are looking forward to many great years in Lake Worth.

Manny Guerrero is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, TX and earned his Bachelor's of Music Education in 2002.  Mr. Guerrero has completed 22 years in music education.  His experience includes middle school concert band, jazz band and beginning band classes.  He has also taught high school marching band, concert band, string orchestra and jazz band.  

Mr. Guerrero's main instrument is the the trombone. He is a current member in the East Fort Worth Community Jazz Band and the Brazos Chamber Orchestra in which he is a founding performer and member.  

Mr. Guerrero has volunteered and served as Band Division Vice President for the Texas Private School Music Educators Association, organizing events such as TPSMEA All-State Band auditions and state clinic and Concert.  He currently serves as the ATSSB Region 5/30 Jazz Coordinator. 

When Mr. Guerrero is not teaching he enjoys cycling, working on bicycles and going to the movies.  He and his wife Keyla, also enjoy spending time together going to flea markets, antique shops and festivals of all kinds. 

Nicolas Salazar is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University who has been teaching band for 15 years in Lake Worth ISD, after teaching 2 years in Del Rio CISD. Mr. Salazar enjoys playing trumpet in various local bands when he’s not assisting the Bullfrog Marching Band or teaching beginner brass players. Salazar enjoys watching live music, learning various instruments, going to the movies, or just chillin' at home. Mr. Salazar also happens to be a licensed real estate agent for Keller Williams.
