Lake Worth ISD Welcomes Three Professionals to the Bullfrog Family!
Lake Worth ISD is proud to announce and welcome a new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning as well as two new principals to Howry Intermediate and Lake Worth High School! Please join us in welcoming Dr. Burns, Dr. Tingle, and Bobby Stults to the Bullfrog family!

Dr. Tingle, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
Dr. Eric Tingle is currently a Regional School Improvement Management at the Texas Education Agency. Prior to serving in his current role, he served as the principal of Tinsley Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District. In 2018, he served as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston, teaching a doctoral course titled “Issues in Urban Education.” He has served in various roles, from teacher to principal. He began his career in the Alief Independent School District as a 4th-grade teacher at Horn Elementary School and served as a math interventionist at the same school. In 2011, he served as the assistant principal of James H. Law Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District, prior to becoming the principal of Foster Elementary School in 2013.
In 2017, he was able to help lead Foster Elementary School to 5 distinctions after being an IR-3 school in 2015. In 2017, he served as the principal of Sugar Grove Academy Middle School in the Houston Independent School District prior to becoming the principal of Tinsley Elementary School in February 2018. Dr. Tingle was a Teach For America Corps Member (Houston) and has worked for the organization as a Corps Member Advisor and a Director of Transportation and Special Events. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma. He earned his master’s degree in Educational Management and doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a Superintendent Certificate from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He completed his dissertation study in 2016, titled “The Influence of a District Leadership Development Program on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Year Principals.” Dr. Tingle was accepted into the Teach For America Houston Aspiring Superintendents Cohort in September 2018.
Dr. Sylonda Burns, Howry Intermediate School Principal
Dr. Sylonda D. Burns is a native of Dallas, Texas and has 22 years of public school educational experience serving students in grades K-12 and 2 years as an instructor at the community college level. She started her teaching career in Houston, Texas before returning home to work in the DFW Metroplex. Dr. Burns is a two-time graduate of Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Performance (All-Levels), and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. In December 2012, she earned a doctorate degree from the University of Phoenix with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and Management with her dissertation research focus on The Influence of Principal Leadership Styles on Teacher Retention.
Dr. Burns has 17 years of classroom and coaching experience and 6 years in school administration. She has served as an Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, House Principal, Summer School, and Night School Principal. Her Texas educator certifications include PK-12 Physical Education, EC-12 Principal, and Superintendent. Dr. Burns has earned many awards throughout her career to include District Female Coach of the Year, Sub-Varsity Coach of the Year by Texas Girls Coaching Association, and Employee of the Year. She is the president of a volunteer organization, board member for a non-profit, and member of various academic organizations.
Bobby Stults, Lake Worth High School Principal
Bobby Stults is a graduate of Lake Worth High School and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Tarleton State University. His previous roles include teacher/coach, assistant principal, and principal. He has served at Lake Worth ISD, Glen Rose ISD, Godley ISD, Athens ISD, Red Oak ISD, and Midland ISD. He brings thirty-three years of experience in education to our district. He has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for thirty-one years. They have two daughters, Kathleen and Michelle, and one granddaughter, Sienna. He is happy and proud to return home.
