To Lake Worth High School Bullfrog Families:

    Re: LWHS Labs 20-21

TEA recently released a list of courses that require a face to face component due to the use of specialized equipment, direct supervision of hands-on activities, and/or specific materials and technology. For the courses listed below, Lake Worth ISD will require students to attend face to face labs on a day to be determined by the teacher during their regularly scheduled course time.

    Commercial Photography I

    Floral Design*

    Construction Tech I

    Commercial Photography II

    Advanced Floral Design*

    Construction Tech II

    Ag Mechanics and Metal Technology

    AP Art classes*

    Culinary Arts

    Ag Power Systems

    Audio/Video Production I

    Advanced Culinary Arts

    Ag Structures, Design and Fabrication

    Audio/Video Production II

    Career Preparation

*Exception to this requirement are Floral Design, Advanced Floral Design  and AP Art.  Students enrolled in these courses will be allowed to either attend labson campus or pick up kits to complete labs at home throughout the course.

Please understand that if you and your student choose to move forward with any of the courses listed above, students will be required to be on campus on the prearranged time frame as set by the teacher to complete the lab portion of the course. Families will be required to provide transportation for their student during their specified course period and must check in at the front desk. Students will not be allowed to be on campus outside of their specified class period.  Lake Worth ISD's attendance and grading policies will be in effect for the 2020-2021 school year. Failure to appear on campus to complete on-campus assignments could also result in absences that could subject the student to the 90% minimum attendance for class credit requirement per semester.

Families may choose a different course that can be satisfied in a fully remote setting.  If you as a parent are not comfortable with your student attending face to face instruction, please notify the student's respective counselor, based on alphabet, to begin working on class schedule changes. You can reach the Lake Worth High School counselor at 817-306-4230.

LAKE WORTH, TX - In an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19, and in partnership with public health officials, and TEA, the Lake Worth ISD will close all 6 campuses until March 27, 2020.

     Friday, March 13, 2020, 8:00 AM

The Lake Worth ISD thanks everyone for the care and concern you’ve shown our students and staff as we grapple with an evolving health situation in our community. Please know that we share your concerns about COVID-19. Later today, the Lake Worth ISD, along with several other districts, will be discussing extending school closures with public health officials.

    COORDINATION

We are working daily with public health officials to help guide our decision-making around district operations.

CLEANING OF SCHOOL FACILITIES AND SCHOOL BUSES

The Lake Worth Independent School District is taking the necessary steps and preventive measures to help protect our students, staff, and parents who use district facilities and buses daily.

    SCHOOL CLOSURE

At this time, we are not canceling any classes unless advised to do so by local health officials. If a case of COVID-19 is confirmed in the District, we will report it to the Tarrant County Public Health Department immediately and follow their recommendations. Should circumstances warrant the cancelation of classes, we will communicate the information by email, phone call, text message, at www.lwisd.org/covid-19, Facebook, Twitter, and local media outlets.

Thank you for your support and partnership as we work together to maintain a healthy learning environment.

    ENROLLMENT AND ATTENDANCE

For all questions or concerns regarding enrollment and attendance, please contact our PEIMS Coordinator, Shawna Ohnesorge, by email at sohnesorge@lwisd.org.

    WHAT YOU CAN DO

There is something you can do. Review good hygiene with your family to help keep them safe. Examples of some routine, everyday preventive actions to lessen the spread of viruses include:

    • If a student or staff member is sick, do not come to school. Stay home until fever-free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.
    • Cover your mouth with your upper arm or a tissue when coughing or sneezing
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
