Alto Sax

 

The alto saxophone gives the impression of being both a brass AND woodwind instrument, however it is indeed considered a woodwind instrument. The alto saxophone (which uses a single reed like the clarinet) is very popular in many kinds of music, especially jazz and rock. Students will begin on the Alto Saxophone but will have the opportunity to audition for Tenor Sax or Baritone Sax after the first semester of beginning band (based on their proven musical and behavioral abilities while in alto saxophone class).

HOW DO GET AN INSTRUMENT?

You have several options on how to get an instrument?

1. You can rent or purchase an instrument from one of our recommended and trusted music stores. You can purchase an instrument up front or you can "rent to own" an instrument. When you rent to own you will pay a month to month rental fee until the amount of the instrument is paid off. Please scroll down to view and find the links to the music stores we do business with.

2. You can choose to use a Lake Worth ISD School Owned Alto Sax. The fee for using a school owned Alto Sax is $40 for the school year. However the you are responsible for purchasing the instrument supplies for the Alto Sax.  Please note that we only have a limited number of Alto Sax. We will be assign school owned instruments to returning band students first and the remaining school owned Alto Sax will be given on a first come first serve basis.
