Alex Oppenborn, Girls Athletic Coordinator, Head Volleyball Coach
Bio:
Alex Oppenborn was born in Chicago, IL but moved to St. Louis, MO at a young age. Alex graduated from Francis Howell North High School in 2012, where she was named to the All Conference and All District teams 3 years in a row. She played 1 year of NCAA Volleyball at Western Illinois before transferring to Oklahoma State. At OSU, she helped develop a men's and women's club volleyball program that finished 3rd at Nationals her senior year. Alex graduated with honors with a BA in Zoology emphasizing large predatory behavior. After graduating, Alex worked in Zambia, Africa researching lions and elephants for the African Lion Environmental Research Trust.
After moving to Texas, she began coaching club volleyball with Fort Worth Fire Volleyball, where she serves as the Recruiting Coordinator and head 17s coach. Alex started her high school coaching career in 2018 at Trinity Valley Schools before moving to Granbury where she was the varsity volleyball assistant, coached track, and taught Biology. Additionally, Alex coaches CrossFit at her gym in Granbury, where she resides with her boyfriend and bulldog. They enjoy spending time on the lake and exploring new places.
At Lake Worth, Coach Oppenborn will lead the volleyball program, coach powerlifting, and teach science. She is coming to Lake Worth with over 8 years of coaching experience and is excited to help strengthen both the volleyball and powerlifting programs. Go Bullfrogs!
