NOTE:  Summer reading assignments are designated for the grade level students will be in NEXT YEAR; i.e. students now in 5th grade would look at the 6th grade reading assignment.

8TH GRADE PRE-AP SUMMER WRITING/JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT

Pre-AP students should be prepared to turn in their journal/writing assignment on DAY ONE of school and take a test on this novel during Week 1 of school

 

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER READING 2008

All summer reading and accompanying writing assignments are due on DAY ONE of school, no exceptions.  Failure to do so may result in reassignment to regular ed ELA class.

NOTE:  Pre-AP and AP students attending grades 9-12 should read all the attachments, below, AT THE BEGINNING of the summer in order to understanding the teacher's requirements for summer reading.  The novel to be read is listed below linked attachments [letter, skills/ vocabulary/

journal/ novel list], but it is important for students to know that a teacher REQUIRES MORE than simply reading the book. Some teachers require that students write a journal as they read in response to the novel; some require students to learn a terminology list and definitions; and others provide a syllabus to familiarize students and parents with expectations for the upcoming year.
