Spelling Bee

January 24, 2008

Thursday, January 24th, Mrs. Bowman orchestrated the spelling bee in the cafeteria at Effie Morris Elementary.  Just hours before, the students watched Akeelah and the Bee, a film about a girl that works for and wins a spelling bee. The movie set the stage nicely for the students, who performed well and watched respectfully and enthusiastically.  The words the finalists were spelling were much more difficult than those the finalists struggled with in years past. Jasmine Browning will represent Effie Morris in the next round of competition.  Hats off to Mrs. Bowman and her capable assistants for a job well done!
