First Grade is an wonderful year packed full of exciting new things..  We are looking forward to becoming great readers, mathematicians, scientists, and historians.  This website will contain helpful information such as schedules, spelling words, high frequency word list and much more.

     If you would like to conference with any of the first grade teachers, please feel free to send a note, call, or e-mail. Our conference time is 1:00-2:00 pm, and appointments can also be scheduled before or after school.  .

This Month

This months Reading theme is Weather.  Each of the stories in this series will relate to weather.   In science, we are going to experimenting dealing with weather, clouds, and the water cycle.  In math, work with your child so that they can count and recognize numbers 1-100, skip count by 2's, 5's, and 10's. We will continue to work on addition and subtraction.  Each class is working on learning sight words, please work with your child's teacher to help your child learn their sight words. This makes reading easier, helps them gain fluency and improve comprehension.
