This is my 9th year at Effie Morris. I have taught a total of 25 years all in the state of Texas.
I was born in Kansas, but moved to Arizona when I was in 2nd grade. I grew up in Safford, Arizona where I graduated in 1981. I attended college in Flagstaff, Arizona and graduated in 1987 from Northern Arizona University. Many ask me how I ended up in Texas. I went to a job fair in Phoenix and I then traveled to Odessa, Texas to investigate a teaching job. I took the Kindergarten job and taught in Odessa until 2004.
I am married and have a 12 year old son. Although I am in my 26th year of being an educator, I still love helping children, and am looking forward to a wonderful year!
As an RTI Interventionist, I work with the teachers to find ways to intervene with struggling students. We set up a plan and meet every 3 weeks to discuss the progress of those students. I also work with small groups of students in order to help them find success in the specific area of academic concern.
If you have any concerns about your child's progress, please contact your child's teacher, and I will work with them to set up a plan for your child.
